One kilometer at a time for
Willen Hospice and Sarcoma UK
Pedal4Purpose is a charity cycling initiative bringing together a team of nine cyclists, supported by a small but dedicated crew, to take on an ambitious and demanding journey from Home to Rome. Over the course of the challenge, the riders will cover long distances day after day, facing tough terrain, changing conditions, and the physical and mental strain that comes with sustained endurance riding — all in aid of raising money and awareness for Willen Hospice and Sarcoma UK.
This challenge represents far more than the miles covered. It’s about commitment, resilience, and holding each other accountable, while using the journey as a platform to support two charities that play a crucial role in caring for individuals and families during incredibly difficult times. The project has been built through consistent training, community fundraising, and the support of everyone who has donated, attended events, or helped behind the scenes.
Our goal is to raise £20,000, and every contribution, no matter the size, helps push us closer to that target and ensures this journey leaves a lasting impact beyond the finish line in Rome.
What are we doing?
Why it matters?
This is Ethan. He is a 27-year-old man who has been bravely battling Ewing’s Sarcoma for the past three years. During that time, Ethan has endured multiple rounds of intense treatment and a number of major surgeries, all undertaken with the hope of curing the cancer and giving him the chance to regain some normality in his life.
Despite the physical and emotional toll, Ethan has continued to fight with remarkable strength and resilience. Sadly, after each course of treatment, the cancer has returned. As a result, his mobility has been significantly affected, changing what day-to-day life looks like for him and those closest to him.
Ethan is now receiving palliative care, with the focus shifting from cure to comfort, dignity, and quality of life. This care is vital — not only for managing pain and symptoms, but also for providing emotional support to Ethan and his family during an incredibly difficult time.
His journey is at the heart of why we are doing this challenge, and why raising awareness and funds for Sarcoma UK and Willen Hospice means so much.
